Loose leads in the damper leavers are recognizable by knocking noises. Florian Stäheli und Dietmar Assimis-Kohls from Pianoservice Fuhrer/ Geneva have designed a simple but very effective pair of pliers to eliminate this disruptive factor.
By lifting the adjacent damper arms, you can easily reach the lead plugs with the pliers to squeeze them. Sometimes it might be necessary to create more space by displacing the damper stop rail. So the lead plugs are fixed again and the rattling is eliminated.
