Felt Restore

Felt Restore is the successor to the renowned VS Profelt, long appreciated by piano technicians for restoring piano key bushings and other felt components. Formulated through rigorous laboratory and field testing, Felt Restore is a non-toxic and non-flammable product that quickly penetrates and revitalizes compressed or hardened felt.

When applied, Felt Restore is absorbed by the felt, causing it to expand and retain its expanded state even after drying. This improves resilience and promotes self-lubrication, resulting in smoother piano key movement and increased durability. It can be used to restore key bushings, damper felts, and even hardened hammers, and can be applied with or without cauls in most cases.

Felt Restore dries quickly and helps sanitize treated surfaces, providing technicians with a versatile and effective solution for restoring both vintage and heavily used instruments. Unlike VS Profelt, Felt Restore is formulated to withstand cold climates and will not freeze, making it easier to store and handle year-round.

Suggested Application Method:

• Remove dust and debris from the key bushing cavities.

• Use a needle applicator to saturate the key bushings with Felt Restore.

• Allow the key bushings to dry overnight.

• Clean the pins.

• Lubricate the pins with PTFE (Teflon).

• Reinstall the keys.

• Ease any treated key bushings that remain overly tight. This is an indication that the liquid polymer is working.

• Replace any particularly worn key bushings that are beyond refurbishment.
